Synopsis[]
Saul plans an announcement. Carrie gets a surprise. US President Warner unexpectedly arrives in Kabul to announce the end of the war together with Afghan President Daoud. While the two heads of state are on their way to the military base in a helicopter, Carrie suddenly receives a call. Samira's brother-in-law, the brother of her deceased husband, wants to kidnap her and force her to marry. Will Carrie reach the young woman in time?
Episode guide[]
Chalk One Up started with Carrie making a later arrival back at the station. It was unsafe for her to be out but since she’s Carrie, she’ll be fine. She also heard a conversation about her which of course got her paranoid juices flowing. Meanwhile, Samira was enjoying a more peaceful Kabul after the ceasefire and the peace deal. She was right to be skeptical and she would actually be right. Her dead husband’s brother couldn’t stand her being alone and wanted to marry him though she refused.
Carrie later got escorted out of the station by military police in a questionable hush-hush way but it would only be so that she could be taken to an air base to meet Saul and Warner. The latter wanted to meet her in person to thank you for the courage she showed during her captivity by the Russians (and possibility set up a position for her at the White House). Meanwhile, Qureshi, G’ulom (two people against the peace deal) and others attended a function at the Presidential Palace.
Warner and the President of Afghanistan were set to announce the peace deal in front of the troops. Riding in a decoy motorcade, Carrie got a call from Samira asking for help as the brother brought others to get her back to their village. They then proceed to break away from the motorcade to that Carrie could save her. Meanwhile, Max was finally set to leave his post with the soldiers (going back on Warner’s helicopter). Little did they know, they would be the ones being visited. Warner delivered an inspiring speech while the slimy Vice President watched. As Max was about to leave, he changed his mind (the bromance is real).
Now comes the big news from the episode. After their joint announcement, both presidents got on a helicopter which then disappeared from radar. Upon an investigation of the area, it was determined that the helicopter crashed, maybe after being shot down. As everyone watched the search mission playing out, the wreckage was swamped with Taliban soldiers who the soldiers engaged with before they proceeded to shoot down the surveilling helicopter.
Is Warner dead? Who shot the helicopter down?
