Biography[]
The Saudi Arabian Prince Farid Bin Abbud, who also lives temporarily in Washington and regularly visits the American capital, is being monitored by the CIA because it is suspected that he is one of the financiers of Abu Nazir's terrorist unit. For this reason, Carrie Mathison planted an undercover agent named Lynne Reed as his lover. In this way, she hopes to be able to understand the prince's every move and collect evidence against him.
The plan seems to be a success because Lynne is able to tell Carrie about Farid's meeting with Nazir and sends her a video that she recorded on her cell phone. She is then supposed to collect further evidence from Farid's cell phone by copying its memory. Carrie hopes to find a new lead that will lead her to Abu Nazir. But Lynne becomes fearful for her safety when Farid asks her to look after a business friend. He usually uses the services of other women for this, as Lynne is taboo as the prince's mistress. He gives her an expensive diamond necklace, but it also means her death sentence, as the necklace serves as a financial injection for Nazir's planned attack on returning soldiers.
When Farid is interrogated about Lynne's murder, he is deeply sad and very angry that the murderer has not been caught. This even makes Carrie doubt that Farid was just playing his affection for Lynne. But he doesn't travel to Saudi Arabia immediately afterwards.
